Around the turn of the millennium, Walt Disney created a series of garden statues. All these statues were so-called big figurines. Each statue was made of high-quality polyresin and hand-painted. Their weights vary from a few kilograms to over 10 kilograms. The biggest statue consists of two parts and measures an incredible length of over 1 meter in total. This is the Donald Duck with a lawnmower statue.
Most of these statues are highly coveted by collectors and extremely rare. When you look at the statues, you understand why. From the lazy Donald Duck to the hardworking Mickey Mouse, each statue has its own charm and tells its own story. Together, they form a unique collection to display your favorite Walt Disney characters.
This series of statues has been produced twice. One time was an open production. This means that nobody knows how many were produced. The other time was a numbered limited edition production. This edition did not specify a total number of produced items.
Heissner and Walt Disney
One of these lines was by Heissner AG. Heissner is a company that was founded in 1872. This company focused on producing garden products for people. They produced the Walt Disney statues in a numbered limited edition and in a open edition. One statue was created exclusively for collectors: Scrooge McDuck standing on a treasure chest with a shovel in his hands.
To become eligible for the Scrooge McDuck statue, named “Dagobert auf Schatzkiste” by Heissner, you had to:
- Take a group picture of at least three of the other Disney garden statues in your own garden.
- Fill in the product number and the limited edition number from the bottom of your statues on the form.
- Mail the picture and the form to Heissner, either by post or by email.
When you did this, you became eligible to purchase the Scrooge McDuck statue for €79.75. This is why the Scrooge McDuck statue is so extremely rare; it was only available to collectors and not to the general public.
Heissner Promotion Giveaway
Besides selling these collectible statues, Heissner also ran a giveaway promotion where you could win either one of these statues or a weekend away at Disneyland® Resort Paris for two people. This was a multiple-choice question with the following answer options:
- Kein mal
- Zweimal
- Fünfmal
Do you know the answer on this question? Translated the question is; How often is Donald represented in the Disney garden figurine range at Heissner?
- Not once
- Twice
