It is well known that Jim Shore partnered with Enesco, but what is less known is his path before that. Like everyone, Jim Shore needed to start somewhere. In his own words, he began with “a wish in one hand and hope in the other.” He started his own company, Designs America, and showcased his first pieces at a show. His work was such a success that, within just three years, he had over 350 employees. Can you imagine what a magical rollercoaster ride that must have been?
However, running a business of that size requires a lot of work. For Jim Shore, this meant he could no longer focus on his art. That was when he decided to partner with Enesco.
From Folk Art to the Magic of...
With Enesco as a partner, Jim Shore was able to open up a whole new world for his art. Expanding his work from the Heartwood Creek line, he began licensing with world-renowned brands like Hanna-Barbera, Peanuts Worldwide, Walt Disney, Warner Bros. and more. Enesco already had contracts with these major license holders, so this collaboration was a logical next step.
