Yosemite Sam model, unique

This is one of those rare moments that you find something truly unique. This Yosemite Sam statue was created in the 1990’s to be taken in production. But it never came in production. We have bought this statue from the person that was responsible for this statue.

We know, based on earlier conversations with people who have worked with among others Disney and Warner Bros, what these brands demand before you can take a statue of one of their characters in production. We have talked at lenght (hours) with the person from who we bought it. He told us his professional life story and how this statue came to be. He and his business partner where people who have created a lot of products. At a certain point they decided to try out working with populair brands like Warner Bros. They arranged a artist and talked with Warner Bros. Based on this the artist created 4 different statues for 4 characters. These statues where send to Warner Bros to be approved. Warner Bros approved them. After this the artist and Warner Bros talked about how much they wanted for every statue that was sold. This was the point that these two business men stopped the proces, they found this to expensive. At that point they had 4 different statues and divide these among themselves. At the end the person who we bought Yosemite from only kept Yosemite. This statue has been standing in his living room for years.

Authenticating a product like this is not easy. First of all we would have preferred to find the artist, but he did not remember who created it. This is not strange, since it is about 30 years ago and this person has worked with so many artists. We have tried to find the artist based on the signature of the statue, buth could not find the artist. Let’s remember that in the 1990’s the Internet was not yet a big thing. So information was not stored the way it is these days. We had a tour around a lot of the products he created. Based on stories we have heard before from people who also worked with Warner Bros, what he was telling is correct. Is was the same story we have heard before. we also see that the size of this statue is the same as other mid figurines that where created in the 1990’s. The material of the statue is material the often use to sculpt a original statue (Albast/Soapstone).

We truly believe his story is correct. We say this based on the knowledge we have and from the extensive conversation we had with him.
